The Old World term often used to describe a Jewish house of study and worship is shul, the Yiddish word for “school.” Similarly, the title Rabbi implies more than a religious leader, it also means “teacher.” Led by our student Rabbi, Temple Beth Ha-Sholom takes its educational role seriously, offering classes for interested members of all ages, including:

  • Sunday school for kids
  • Hebrew school for kids
  • Adult education
  • Book discussion
  • Introduction to Judaism

Our approach is flexible, seeking to meet the needs of our members.

For students preparing to become Bar Mitzvah or Bat Mitzvah (a coming-of-age ritual typically celebrated at the age of 13, but sometimes observed later in life), Hebrew language training and ritual instruction are offered. As the date of the Bar/Bat Mitzvah rite of passage approaches, private tutoring may be scheduled for those weekends on which our Student Rabbi visits us. A Confirmation class is held for post-Bar/Bat Mitzvah students.

Specific questions about educational opportunities, as well as suggestions and offers of volunteer assistance, should be addressed to our congregation’s president, Marvin.
Prospective members desiring more information about our Religious School and Hebrew School programs are invited to email our president, Marvin.
